Jack Hermansson vs. Chris Curtis Prediction
This Saturday's co-main event sees the return of "The Action Man" Chris Curtis, stepping in on short notice to replace Darren Till and take on "The Joker" Jack Hermansson. I honestly don't know what's more impressive, Christopher taking this fight with less than a month of camp or Darren Till pulling out of yet another fight, and on the great UFC London card, no less.
We all know where Jack is trying to take the fight. Right down onto the floor in order to rack up crucial ground control if not finding a bonafide submission outright.Â
Disappointments and false hope aside, in a rare turn of events, I actually favor the late replacement to get it done over the Swedish Sensation in Hermansson. The fact of the matter is Chris has prepared for this style of a fight over three matchups in a row now. Even though he's getting a mere two weeks for the specialized prep, he has trained with his buddy Sean Strickland for Hermansson and faced two outstanding grappling phenoms in his last couple of outings in the form of Rodolpho Viera and Brendan Allen.
What's particularly impressive to come out of the Viera fight is that he defended 20 consecutive takedown attempts from the Brazilian bruiser. If grappling is Hermansson's bread and butter, then Curtis is the expired milk that ruins your cereal at breakfast. The only thing that concerns me is Christopher Robin's cardio after surely being jet lagged coming into the fray in London.
Apart from that factor, the fight will be relatively competitive all around, but I see Curtis pulling away come the bottom half of the second round. Inevitably dominating the 3rd and securing the bag with a unanimous decision victory. Play the fight completes 2 rounds in case of a hometown robbery, but these guys should carry one another for the full 15 minutes.
