At long last, the much-anticipated rematch stewing since the amateurs has arrived in the form of Claressa "Greatest Woman to Ever Live" Shields versus Savannah Marshall. Claressa is looking to carry the teeny bit of momentum and goodwill she generated over her victory over Ema Kozin early in February. Marshall on other hand has looked borderline unstoppable, literally KOing ten of her 12 professional opponents and capturing the WBO female middleweight title for her already dominant, impetuous legacy.

As an avid fanatic of the PFL promotion in the wacky world of MMA, I couldn't help but be in awe when Claressa Shields decided to do what few boxers had done and transition mid-career in a bid for yet another title taking place in an entirely different sport. While she learned on the job quite handily and even secured a comeback from behind victory over a no less a grappler in her debut, it was quite obvious that the ceiling might be a little ways off for if she were to ever challenge a say, Kayla Harrison or Amanda Nunes.
These suspicions were confirmed in her next fight as she fought tooth and nail but was ultimately bested by 2-0 at the time Abigail Montes, signifying an end to her long undefeated streak in combat sports and quite possibly the finale to her MMA venture. Shields returns however in the present Saturday to her tried and tested bread and butter: boxing. While she experimented with something different, she ultimately did not let it affect her all too much as evident by the fairly impressive showing against Kozin. Unfortunately for Claressa is that she has quite possibly her biggest test in front of her this weekend in Savannah Marshall.
Winning a contentious split decision in their amateur bout, Savannah has had nearly a flawless run as Shields in the boxing hemisphere, the only difference being that she has the explosive touch of death. Shields will have to look to stick and move as her life depends on it, keeping the Marshall at bay until the final bell is rung. So when it comes down to brass tax who wins on Saturday and ultimately becomes the greatest woman of all time? While I think the money and storyline/progression of careers slightly favor Claressa, this fight is way too close to pick a side, essentially a coin flip in every sense of the word.
