I have never been a diehard Sandman truther like most of MMA Twitter and beyond, for there are obvious holes in his game that can be exploited. And exploited they have been, with both TJ Dillashaw and Aljamain Sterling utilizing body locks and clinch attacks to nullify Sandhagens Bruce Lee striking and subsequently neutralizing his ability to go out and use his win conditions to achieve victory. The lack of grappling won't seem to be an issue here though however, at least on paper Yadong's game strays far away from those aspects of mixed martial arts.
Primarily an in-and-out fighter, Yadongs style is fairly binary but effective, utilizing blitzes and fast twitch counters to brutally maul the victims he gets put in front of. While no doubt having the power edge against the likes of Sandhagen, his being on the center line constantly will probably be a walk in the park for Cory as he has made a career off of his dynamic footwork and overall MMA fluidity.
The fact of the matter is the Cory Sandhagen fight against John hands of stone Lineker has already shown me that the Sandman can adapt against power punching brutes, so unless Yadong has incorporated Division 1 all-American wrestling into his arsenal overnight, he's in for a long afternoon of getting potshotted and perhaps getting taken down himself.
Look to play the fight completes four rounds in the main part due to the pair's historic durability and the obvious removal of potentially biased judges down the stretch.
