Even though there are quite literally too many bangers on this week's UFC to keep track of, what can be ascertained for damn sure is that the name Bashrat will ring true amongst both MMA casuals and hardcores alike after this week when it's all said and done.
After his brother Farid made his contender series opponent look like an amateur last Tuesday night, the man who goes by "The Snow Leopard" looks to keep the family momentum going as he takes on the one and only Tony Gravely in a pivotal bantamweight affair.
Bashrat is coming into the bout 5 foot 9 with a 69, yes 69 reach over Gravely's garden gnome-esque 5-foot-5 height and back to the well 69-inch reach. While Javid is primarily known as a rangy kickboxer, he has also been seen exhibiting a nasty darce amongst a plethora of other fantastical submission attacks. On the other side of the coin, while Gravely is predominantly a power wrestler with excellent offensive grappling fundamentals, the man can no doubt punch for days, with shades of midget Mike Tyson being seen on full display as he sends a select few of his victims out of the octagon and into the shadow realm.
Now that the technical specifications and logistics are out of the way, who walks home the winner and who stumbles out of the hospital the worse for wear loser? While Javid has demonstrated a knack for making his adversaries look uncoordinated and on the slow side, at the end of the day he is still very much green at the highest level. Gravely will no doubt be his biggest test yet, and if Javid doesn't go about dotting his Ps and Qs accordingly, he might be leaving the vicinity in a body bag.
Ultimately though I am going to trust in the Snow Leopards' perspicacity and general career resilience to get the job done on Tony Gravely and do it so in a debilitating fashion, look for both Bashrat brothers to secure the bag this week, with Javid fulfilling the prophecy with a second round submission victory come Saturday Night.
