Mateus Mendonca vs. Ashiek Ajim: Best Bet for Dana White's Contender Series Week 10
Alas, we reach the end of the road, or at least the end of Dana White's vanity vehicle as we just about wrap up another season of the Contender Series to vigorous applause and tumultuous fanfare. It has been quite the summer for our wallets and eyeballs, as week after week Lightning Locks has delivered the goods for your betting pleasure and MMA knowledge-kept content.
Just like Tom Brady however, we got one more in us before the whole ship is put in the rearview mirror and shelved altogether in its entirety. Stay with me as for the last time this Fall, Tuesday Night Contender Bet will be provided and cashed appropriately.

Mateus Mendonca vs. Ashiek Ajim Prediction
To cut right down to brass tax I believe the best course of action for tackling this tricky season finale of a card is to target the 3-to-1 favorite in Mateus Mendonca. This Chute Box standout aims to achieve what his gym compadres like Thomas Almeida and more importantly Charles Oliviera have accomplished at the highest level of the sport, all while getting their foot in the door via the Dana show vehicle first and foremost. He will look to impose his grappling supremacy over the Long Island-trained Ashiek Ajim.

This Serra Longo descendant will desperately try and stick onto Mendonca early and often, aiming to get the Brazilian out of there entirely before push comes to shove and the second round transpires to its maximum. The problem that has plagued Ashiek Ajim his whole career even throughout the regionals is that his hot-headed approach is fine when you are a frontrunner over bums but disastrous when you face anyone with a lick of skill or reputable competition under their belt. I have personally seen him gas bad after going past the 7.5-minute mark, as well as collapse entirely over known punching bag Khris Moutinho, who more or less Homer Simpsoned his way to destructive victory.
That combined with his suspect/nontested ground game leads me to believe that Mendonca has this in the bag. The fact to end all facts of the matters is that while Mendonca could get caught prematurely and put out before he gets going altogether unless that first-round finish transpires the Brazillian standout is going to bob and weave Ashiek into an exhaustive, comatose state. Once he has him dead to rights from his deteriorated cardio, expect Mateus Mendonca to find the finish, whether it be by sub or TKO in the second or third.
