Tim Means vs. Max Griffin Prediction

While a case can be made that both of these gentlemen are in the twilight of their careers, one of these things is not like the other as I argue that Max is in the best form he's ever looked during his run inside of the Octagon.

Tim Means has always been a personal favorite of mine due to his cool demeanor and ability to fight long, but he has had a fairly rough stretch of it in his last few outings, mainly because while he has won three out of his last five he has also simultaneously been dropped in all of those fights.

I suspect that ever since the Niko Price contest in 2019 Means chin has never fully recovered, as before that fateful matchup he had been highly touted as being one of the most durable tacticians welterweight had ever seen.

From going from being a stone-cold assassin to having your chin checked by Nicholas Dalby, it has become woefully apparent that The Dirty Bird's jaw and overall versatility have seen better days.

On the other side of the coin you have Max Griffin coming off an ambiguous split decision loss to Neil Magny, but still winning three out of his last five regardless. What's truly fascinating regarding Max Payne is that he has shockingly leveled up as of late, going from losing decisions to the likes of Alex Morono and Alex Oliveira to achieving profound success against Carlos Condit and the great Song Kenan, finishing the ladder in the very first round to add insult to injury.

The way I see this fight transpiring is fairly straightforward. While Means could well and truly shock the world once again with a volume-centric decision down the stretch, when it's all said and done I think Griffin takes this at a fairly high clip.

Not only do I think Max is on a new training regiment that allows him to go longer in the cage, but harder as well. The fact of the matter is with Means' suspect chin and Griffin's evolution in the power punching department, the possibility of a Timothy flatline is very much so on the table in this bout.

With those factors and a variety of others, give me Max Griffin to stop the Dirty Bird that is Tim Means, either in the first few rounds or winning on the scorecards unanimously due to a complete shutout performance.
