Soccer expert Tom Love gives us his preview and pick for today's Merseyside derby
ANALYSIS

Everton vs. Liverpool Picks

(1.5u) Both Teams To Score @ -125

The Merseyside Derby ends the Premier League weekend and it could be a significant one for the Reds, who are on the cusp of their first title in 30 years.

It’s a shame they won’t be able to celebrate it with their fans but this team, that in all honesty may have benefited more than most with a break, certainly deserves it for their ability to overcome almost everything that’s thrown at them.

Everton has been an improving team under the watch of Carlo Ancelotti. The former Real Madrid and AC Milan coach has spoke a good game so far and backed it up with improved results and performance data. It’s an exciting project on the blue side of the city and they’ll be trying to get to a position to seriously challenge their neighbors in the next 4 or 5 years.

Looking into the betting for this one and Liverpool is going off as -175 favorites, which is fair. I do think they’re most likely winners but I’m more inclined to head to the both teams to score market and back yes at -125.

Jurgen Klopp has dramatically improved this Liverpool defense since he’s been at the club. The signings of Allison, Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez have been inspired and the fact they rarely concede more than a single goal has been a huge reason they’re so far ahead of the rest.

However, Everton has shown much more intent going forward under Ancelotti and I think the strike partnership of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison can really shake up the Reds backline. Their physicality and willingness to back themselves may give the away side a fright.

The goals have been flowing for the Toffees recently, with 6 of their last 7 games seeing BTTS cop. They don’t have an awful lot to play for but fans will be urging them to give this a real good go with it being an intense rivalry, what’s more it could even give them the license to play with more freedom. In a game that looks to be lacking much value I think the -125 on both sides scoring looks more than fair.
