Michigan vs MSU Prediction
This is gonna be a fun one. As a lifelong Michigan sports admirer, with friends and family on both sides of this battle, we finally get to see two legitimate Michigan teams face off in a game with real consequences. Additionally, who would have expected both of these teams to be here? Neither team was ranked to start the season and Michigan State had a win total that would have already passed, through eight weeks.
So who's actually gonna win this game? Well it's hard to say, Michigan opened as a slight favorite but they’ve moved to -3.5 or -4 favorites in most spots now. Both of Michigan's road wins over the last decade have been rather unimpressive, one against an MSU team that finished 7-6, and last year against a Minnesota team that finished 3-4. When the lights get the brightest, Michigan is seemingly nowhere to be found.
Now, I have been one to bet on Michigan State this year. They've been a team that hasn't gotten the respect they deserve and I think that's showing again. While the value is easier to detect when Michigan State is 3.5-point favorites against Rutgers, despite an undefeated record and a clear talent gap, I'll go to the bank for them as underdogs this week. While my first inclination was to take the under in this game, I think we are getting too much value on the Michigan State side. Normally these lines are super sharp, but when my line is +2.5 and they give me +4, crossing a key number, I'll take that value ten times out of ten.
If there is one thing that has defined the Harbaugh era in Michigan, it's losing in the biggest moments. Whether it's their lackluster record against Michigan State or their embarrassing record against Ohio State, this team has proved they don't have what it takes. I think both Michigan and Michigan State are better than they are getting credit for this season, but this spread shouldn't be more than three points.
