SEC Championship Game Prediction: Can Bama Knock Off Top-Ranked Georgia?

This week, we have a bunch of great college football games to enjoy. As we are weeks away from bowl games, teams should be playing at absolutely 100% in order to improve those resumes to the best of their abilities. Whether it's marquee divisional games or long-standing rivalries, we have you covered on some of the best college football action going down this weekend.

SEC Championship Game Prediction

Georgia vs. Alabama odds

#1 ranked Georgia and #3 ranked Alabama meet up at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for one of the most anticipated matchups of the season. While I’m obviously excited anytime we get a matchup between two highly ranked opponents, Georgia vs. Alabama carries a different weight to it.

Last week, the whole world got to witness the Crimson Tide barely hold on in a quadruple overtime win over rival Auburn, and they haven't looked as crisp as they have been in years past. While this clearly wasn't Alabama's best performance, I'm also not willing to brush it off as nothing, like I’m seeing a lot of Alabama supporters do. I understand it's rivalry week, and anything can happen, but Finley legitimately couldn't move outside of the pocket, the Auburn O-Line sucks, and they someone continued that game for much longer than it should have.

Looking at this Georgia squad, they are lights out. While their offense hasn't been necessarily crazy, it doesn't have to be. The defense is the star of the show here. This Georgia defense hasn't allowed an opponent to score 20 points all season, in this modern-day league, that's insane. They held Clemson to 3 points, Arkansas to 0, Auburn to 10, and Kentucky to 13, every single one of these teams was ranked at the time of the matchup. It's not like these guys are beating up on scrubs, they also held solid Florida, Tennessee, and Missouri teams to 7, 17, and 6 points, respectively.

There are always going to be those people that say, “Can't bet against Nick Saban in these types of situations” and historically, they haven't been wrong. A lot of this game is going to come to winning the turnover battle, and not throwing away good scoring opportunities with penalties. Alabama historically does have the upper hand in these categories but Georgia has outperformed them this season.

My analysis of this game is fairly simple. I think Georgia is on a tier by itself this season. If you want to say that Alabama has the best chance of beating them out of anyone in the country, I probably wouldn't disagree, but I simply think Georgia is the best team in the country and they are gonna show it on Saturday.
