College football prediction and pick coming to us for Friday's CFP semifinals. First up, the Cincinnati Bearcats take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Cotton Bowl. Then, the Michigan Wolverines and Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl. Find out how handicapper John Hyslop is playing them here

College Football Playoff Best Bets: Picks From Both of Friday's CFP Semifinal Games

The College Football Playoff begins Friday which means we're betting both games. That's just what responsible gambling looks like. The kids are playing, so we should be betting them. The thing about the College Football Playoff is you have to look at the games like they are a fistfight. Throw all the stats out the window and just figure out who's going to win. Think about it, if you saw two people in a bar about to fistfight would you be picking a winner based on punches and takedown statistics? Of course not, you'd be betting the guy you think will win the fight based on everything but statistics. This is pretty much the same thing here. Here are two bets that I made using absolutely zero statistics and 100% amateur fistfight analysis. No chance they lose.

College Football Playoff Best Bets

Cincinnati-Alabama Over 57

Cincinnati vs. Alabama odds

I decided that I am too much of a sportsman to take Alabama -13.5 for one simple reason. Cincinnati plays in the AAC. If you took the best players off of every AAC team and made one super AAC team, they still wouldn't cover 13.5 against Alabama. That's a scientific fact. For that reason, the total is in play even though we can still exploit Cincinnati being in a little boy conference. There's no chance they can hold Alabama to under 45 points. That's called being realistic. South Florida put up 28 points on these guys so imagine what Alabama is going to do. We should still give Cincinnati credit for being here which I think is worth at least 14 points. Given my analysis here, the lowest possible score we could see Friday night would be Alabama 45 Cincinnati 14. That's over 57 people.

Georgia-Michigan Over 45

Georgia vs. Michigan odds

This one is tricky because not only can we not use stats to predict this one, we also have to gauge who has the most Covid running through their program. That's hard to predict since there is no way either team is going to say a word about anything until they have to. When in a situation like this, you always take the over. Obviously Georgia would slaughter Michigan if there were no Covid issues but there has to be Covid issues because literally everyone has Covid right now. As I type this, I have Covid. I wouldn't be allowed to play if I was on either team. Still, I think both teams are going to find a way to score a few points in this game. Especially if Georgia has Covid issues. I'll even give two scenarios. If Georgia has to name a ton of guys out, they win 27-21. If they are Covid-free, then they win 37-16. Either way, we go over 45.
