Las Vegas Bowl Prediction

Anyone else notice these bowl games are all blowouts and getting ridiculous? We have an offensive lineman playing defense for the first time and guys acting like Refrigerator Perry scoring a touchdown. Honestly, it can't be stopped so I would do the same thing. Tonight, we finally have a game where so COVID, opt-outs and all the other stuff we have to deal with shouldn't impact it too much.

20 years in a row Wisconsin has been to a bowl game and until they choked and lost to Minnesota they may have been in a New Year's Day Bowl, but leaving Wisconsin for Las Vegas is hard to complain about.

The Badgers were smoking hot because they started doing what they do best after the awful start to the season, running and playing defense. But, they forgot that in the loss to Minnesota, ending their 7-game winning streak.

If you didn't already know, Wisconsin was the BEST defense in the country and we always feel defense wins games, especially come bowl season.  They gave up only 240.8 yards a game, as we said best in the country, and they were 6th in scoring defense at 16.4 a game.  In the winning streak, they gave up only 44 points, barely more than a touchdown a game, and we expect that same defense to show up tonight and stop a team that plays into the Badgers' strengths.

Jack Sanborn, one of the best players on defense, was quoted as saying "I'm expecting us to perform, work hard during bowl prep, get ready for Arizona State and make the trip a memorable one." This sounds like a man and a defense who want to get back to what they did most of the year and that's shut other teams down, because in the last two games, they've given up 51 total points.

Arizona State was nothing special this year and the loss to Utah, a team that plays a similar to the Badgers, should be a good barometer for this one (a game Utah won by 2 scores).  Arizona State QB Jayden Daniels was supposed to be NFL ready but he regressed so much he decided to stay another year, even though the NFL draft class of QBs is one of the weakest we have seen in years.

Arizona State is built to run, but they're missing their two best running backs in Rachaad White and Deamonte Trayanum.  They are also missing two starting corners, which means Wisconsin might actually test the replacements and open up their ground-and-pound offense to the air.  Arizona State was 23rd in the country, averaging over 200 yards rushing, and when you miss your two best guys and face the best rush defense, it means scoring will not be easy tonight.

If you can't score then you can't win is our mentality and we feel that Badgers' D will hold Arizona State well below the 30 they scored this year in the "we don't play defense" league known as the Pac-12. Arizona State does have a great defense so we are expecting a close game like Iowa State vs. Clemson from yesterday and turnovers will change the game. Both defenses were top 20 in takeaways this year.

Wisconsin to win by 10 or more because we have the healthier team, the better ground game and the best defense. We look at every Arizona State loss this year and we see Oregon State with  237 rushing yards, Washington State with 166 yards rushing, Utah with 208 yards rushing and BYU with 144 yards rushing for an average of 189 yards, which is about what we expect from the Badgers tonight.

If that's not enough, all 4 losses were by double digits, so why mess with history? Badgers by double digits in an ugly, old-school football game led by a running back (Braelon Allen) who averaged over 7 yards a carry!!!
