USC Football Prediction: Can the Trojans Win a National Title in 2022?

It is never too early for college football bets. I can not wait for opening week, and so I had to write a football article today. We are 96 days away from the college football season, and what a year we will be in store for. There is so many things going on in college football, and the transfer portal combined with NIL deals have really changed the way recruiting is done.

USC Football Prediction

USC may have had the best off-season of any team on paper when they signed head coach Lincoln Riley formerly of Oklahoma. Riley is one of the most respected coaches in the college football game, and he is one of the best recruiters in college football.

USC has never made a college football playoff which is a crazy statement to say. Their last big bowl win came when they won the rose bowl over Penn State in the Sam Darnold era. This is a program with a rich history of winning thirteen national championships. The issue for USC is it has been quite some time since they won one. You have to go back to 2004 when Matt Leinart was QB, and Reggie Bush was the team running back. This is a program that is too good not to win a title since 2004. They have just won two since 1980. Lincoln Riley's job this year is to put them back on the map and he is the right guy to do so in my eyes. 

The future we are taking is going to be USC to win the national championship at +3000. USC enters the season ranked number four. They are expected to be a playoff team on paper but let’s get into their schedule. They play in the PAC 12, which is typically good, but this year I think they will take a step down. Oregon lost their head coach and multiple top players on their team. Utah is going to be the other team to beat in the PAC 12 as they have quietly been outstanding the last couple of years.

I think it is a two-team race, but I know Oregon can be good with the addition of Bo Nix. I just believe Utah and USC are a step up. The Trojans added former Oklahoma Qb Caleb Williams, who will compete for the Heisman, and they also added former Oregon running back Travis Dye. The Trojans also added a pair of top wideouts in Jordan Addison and Mario Williams. This is a deep team that is out to prove something this season. I see them losing one game at most this season so let’s take a shot on +3000.
