This is a very interesting game between an Illinois team who was a bottom feeder in the Big Ten vs a Wyoming squad who had some success at 7-6 last year in the Mountain West. Let's break it down.
ANALYSIS

Illinois Vs Wyoming Best Bet and Pick: Can Wyoming Quiet Down Chase Brown?

Illinois finished last season at 5-7 and most of their struggles were due to an inability to move the ball on offense. Illinois finished the 2021-2022 season at 5-7 and struggled against top-tier competition and even struggled in some of their non-conference games against lesser opponents. Illinois fell to UTSA by a score of 37-30 in a game where they were 4.5-point favorites and needed a 2H comeback to defeat Charlotte in a game where they actually were losing at halftime as 10/11-point favorites. This season, it could be different. Here are my picks, predictions, and odds for Saturday's game between the Illinois Fighting Illini vs. Wyoming Cowboys.

Illinois vs. Wyoming Line Movement

Illinois Fighting Illini vs. Wyoming Cowboys Prediction

Illinois loses their starting QB in Brandon Peters, but they did gain Syracuse transfer, Tommy DeVito who has 4 years of experience under his belt at Syracuse as he saw action in 26 total games while tallying just under 4000 career passing yards and 200 rushing yards.

Illinois is a very possession-based offense that lacks that big play potential. They pride themselves on a strong rushing attack as their leading rusher from last season, Chase Brown, returns to the backfield. He tallied just over 1,000 yards last year and Illinois also brings back Josh McCray and Reggie Love who combined for just over 700 yards so even if Brown were to have an injury, Illinois would have multiple playmakers available at the running back position to step in and make an impact.

Wyoming is a team who is dealing with a lot more turnover at the moment. Wyoming rotated quarterbacks last year between Sean Chambers and Levi Williams and now both are gone as they transferred out to Montana St and Utah St. While they lost 2 fairly productive quarterbacks, they gained Andrew Peasley through the transfer portal from Utah State who showed some positive flashes in his time there.

Wyoming also lost their very talented running back, Xazavian Valladay, who was extremely productive, but they still have Titus Swen on the roster who ran for 785 yards on nearly 6 yards per carry and 7 TDs. Swen is more than capable of filling Valladay's absence and should be poised for a huge season as the focal point of this offense. Wyoming also has a very solid offensive line that should be able to hold up against Illinois's strong defensive front.

The battle of the trenches will be huge in this game as field position and time of possession will be critical in what should be a low-scoring game. I think Wyoming has the personnel to match up well against this Illinois squad who is very offensively challenged in their own right. With that being said, I am rolling with Wyoming 1H +8 at -110 and Wyoming Full Game +14 at -108 for 0.75u each to total a 1.50u position on Wyoming.
