North Texas vs. UTEP Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, and Latest Odds: Will Gavin Hardison Carry Miners?
We're obviously staying up late Saturday night since we've got real, live football back. That's not up for debate. The thing is, we'll need a bridge game to get us from the 7:00 pm ET game to the 10:00 pm EST games. It's just how this whole thing works. Lucky for us, North Texas and UTEP will kick off at 9:00 pm ET on Stadium. Now I've never watched Stadium (or heard of it really), after I'm done writing this article, I'm going to see if I can get it. From what I know, it's a premium channel that we can get on YouTube TV. Sounds promising.
Come check out my prediction, picks, and odds for UTEP vs. North Texas.

Thinking ahead, after we figure out a way to watch this game, we're going to need to know what we're betting. This is not a Power 5 game so we'll need to dig deep to get some information on these squads. Week 0 isn't about making a profit but at the same time, we're not just trying to give our cash away. That's dumb. The good news is, I think I might have an angle we can all be proud of.
This one is at DraftKings as they are giving us so many different options to bet on these games. I wish we were getting player props for this one but we're not so we have to stray into the other exotic type of wagers. Only time will tell if FanDuel or BetMGM will be giving out any alt lines similar to this one as they have nothing posted yet. I'm an optimist though so I'm thinking they will. You just gotta believe sometimes.
Betting these games is very tough as not even the coaches of these teams know what to expect Saturday. I mean we're talking UTEP and North Texas here. Most people don't even know what UTEP stands for (I do, NBD). But still, this is a football game being played on Week 0. The smart thing to do would be to treat it like the Super Bowl and get wild. We legit subscribed to a premium channel just to watch it so we may as well bet on it. Don't be dumb.
I'm just going to say it, I think UTEP isn't that bad. I may even be a UTEP fan depending on how they do in this game (no pressure). These kids played in a bowl game last year and that never happens to UTEP. They've been a doormat for years but it looks like the tide could be turning at this point. Gavin Hardison is back at quarterback after throwing for 3200+ yards last year. That's not bad. He's missing a couple of targets but these teams always find replacements at that position. My guess is somebody steps up. I bet this offense doesn't miss a beat this season. Feels right.
As for North Texas, we don't even know who will be playing quarterback for them this season. I will admit that they are loaded at wide receiver but if you can't get the playmakers the ball, what good are they? Defensively they were terrible last season and I'm not sure what they have done to improve. They could actually be worse. They only beat UTEP by three last season but that was at their place. This time they'll have to go to UTEP to get it one and this time around UTEP might even have fans. I'll take the Miners to win a close one for +105.
North Texas vs. UTEP Pick
- UTEP -1 (+105) - DraftKings (Alt Line) (Bet $100 to win $105)
