FAU vs. Charlotte Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, and Latest Odds: Can Chris Reynolds Carry 49ers?
By the time 7:00 pm ET rolls around on Saturday, we will have already sweated out three games which is glorious. Obviously, on a normal Saturday, the number would be much higher than that but this is Week 0. We're crawling before we're walking here people. We need to get our football legs under us and the only way to do that is by gambling on football. Not preseason stuff either.
We need actual games that actually matter to some people. I'm talking about a game like Charlotte vs South Florida. Is it a marquee matchup? No. But one thing my uncle taught me when I was a kid was that any game can be a marquee matchup if you just put some cash on it. That lesson is as true today as was back then. Lucky for us, I found a move for Charlotte and South Florida that will make it feel like the National Title Game. This could be the best thing that's ever happened to us. Come check out my prediction, picks, and odds for FAU vs. Charlotte.

This one is at DraftKings because I haven't seen another book post this market. I haven't checked them all but BetMGM and FanDuel are nowhere to be found on this thing. That's pretty sad in my opinion. If I was in charge, every book on the planet would be forced to offer this market. They're a sportsbook and this is a bet. It just makes sense. Still, we may just need to wait for game day for the other books to join in. We can at least hope.
I wanted to do the full-game team total on these guys but I settled on the first half. Could it be a mistake? Definitely. But I could also be right to do it as well. That has to be considered. In my opinion, 26.5 for the full game is playable, but the fact that we would only need two touchdowns at even money in the first half felt better. They did this in three of their last four games last season so there is that. I feel like that matters.
One thing I like most about the 49ers is they have eight starters coming back this season including quarterback, Chris Reynolds. I'm not a guy that thinks returning starters is the end all be all, but at the same time, it does matter. Especially when we're talking about a guy like Reynolds who feels like he's been in college for 10 years. He hasn't but it feels like that since he's taken snaps in each of the last four years. Reynolds has his three top receivers back which is a bonus too. This offense isn't that bad. Their kicker has never missed an extra point in college so if they score twice in the first half, we should be home free.
As for Florida Atlantic, who knows what to expect defensively. For starters, they only had 17 sacks as a team last season, which is awful. On top of that, they only have Teja Young in the secondary. They lost a corner to the NFL and the kids that are expecting to play a ton are super young. The biggest thing is the fact that they were really good on third down last year. I know that sounds like a good thing, and it is, but it can also signal some luck. I'm not saying Charlotte is going to go up and down the field on FAU, I'm just saying that scoring two touchdowns in the first half isn't that crazy. Especially at even money.
