Colorado State vs Michigan Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Jay Norvell and New-Look Rams Make A Statement?
The new-look Colorado State Rams will get an immediate road test in Ann Arbor, Michigan against the Michigan Wolverines. The Rams have a new head coach, quarterback, and numerous other transfers from Nevada to attempt reversing their 3-9 record posted in 2021. Michigan is the clear-cut favorite in this Week 1 matchup but the losses of Aidan Hutchinson, Hassan Haskins, and David Ojabo will be notable.
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has yet to declare a permanent starter but quarterback Cade McNamara is expected to be taking snaps under center against the Rams this weekend. Meanwhile, redshirt freshman quarterback transfer Clay Millen will be tasked with manufacturing a huge upset in the Big House with former Nevada Wolfpack head coach, Jay Norvell. The continuity between Millen and Norvell will certainly be one of the focal points during this Week 1 matchup.

COLORADO STATE RAMS VS MICHIGAN WOLVERINES PREDICTION
Michigan will benefit from the return of wide receiver Ronnie Bell, who was absent for the majority of 2021 due to sustaining a knee injury. Cornelius Johnson and Roman Wilson are a dynamic receiving duo who will be attractive targets for McNamara to seek out against a rebuilt, inexperienced Colorado State secondary. Hassan Haskins is in the NFL but Blake Corum has enough experience, averaging 6.6 YPC and racking up 11 rushing touchdowns in 2021.
Harbaugh is known for his under-center, I-formation run-centric offense that frequently deploys 13 and 22 personnel. Tight ends Erick All and Luke Schoonmaker are strong blockers and have soft hands to be assets for McNamara during dropbacks and play-action passes. Colorado State has an unknown quarterback with Clay Millen but he's clearly a favorite of new head coach Jay Norvell since he brought him over from Nevada. While the receiving corps has intriguing players like Wolfpack transfer Tory Horton and Melquan Stovall, their defense is going to hold them back from being competitive against Michigan's beefy offensive linemen. The lack of turnovers in 2021, combined with an inability to score red zone touchdowns at a 43 percent conversion rate, means the Rams will fall behind quickly against the Wolverines.
