Purdue Boilermakers vs Penn State Nittany Lions Prediction
Both of these teams enter the season unranked and will look to show why there should be a number beside their name in week one. Penn State is considered the more talented team and a team some people think could make noise out of the big ten this season. This is a talented roster that is coming off their worst season since 2015. Penn State extended head coach James Franklin to one of the largest contracts in college football as they have shown full faith in Franklin. He has enjoyed success as the head coach of Penn State, but they have struggled to win big games in his era. They are hopeful that this year will change that narrative.
Purdue comes into this season led by veteran QB Aidan O'Connell. O'Connell has a ton of experience at the college football level and will be looking to turn in a great year in his final season. He loses some weapons on the offense that the Boilermakers are a bit worried about. This is a team led by head coach Jeff Brohm. Brohm enters his sixth season, and he is hopeful this will be the year his team makes noise out of the big ten. Purdue is coming off a very successful 2021 season, going 9-4. That was their best season since 2003 when they also went 9-4.
I am backing Penn State on Thursday night. I understand Purdue was a tough team at home last year, but I am very high on this Penn State team. Sean Clifford will start the year at QB for Penn State and brings a ton of experience into this game. Penn State has one of the most talented young QBs backing him up in the form of Drew Allar. We likely will not see Allar in action tomorrow but this kid should have a great career in Blue and White.
Purdue graduated a lot of key players last season. I question if the guys who are taking these new starters' roles can handle it. It is on both sides of the ball that they will be dealing with a lot of turnovers. At the end of the day, Penn State is a much more talented team, and the fact they are laying three on the road makes this a Penn State line in my eyes. Let’s lock in and cash!
Purdue vs Penn State Pick
