Michigan State vs. Western Michigan Prediction

Well, we could not have asked for a better start to the college football season for us with that sweep yesterday. I am feeling great about this season and that was an excellent way to get the ball moving downfield (see what I did there) and I have action ready to go tonight. I am super crazy about this limited Friday night slate but it is the first week of the season and I still see a few spots I want to dive into nonetheless.

Michigan State is not really the true power-house team that they once were in years past, but they have a chance to change my mind here this season; they are a very talented team with a strong class of players on the field and the preseason rankings have them sitting at a cool 15th in the nation without having played a snap this year.

They went 11-2 last season but had no chance of playoff contention after getting steamrolled by Ohio State; luckily for them, they are playing a team tonight that is nothing like them.

Western Michigan went 8-5 last season and is a good football team for the MAC’s standards but that really cannot compare to a true Power 5 team like Michigan State. Yes, every year or two some FCS or low-level FBS team will knock off a top team in Week 1, but I do not see that happening here tonight at all.

Last night, another MAC team took on a true Power 5 opponent but not even a ranked one. Ball State was down 45-0 before they even touched the board in a game that saw 69 points and Tennessee win by 49.

I do not know if the Spartans steamroll the Mustangs like that here tonight but they have won comfortably in the last three meetings and I expect the same tonight; look for them to lead the charge in this one.
