Boise State was a trendy underdog pick in week 1 against Oregon State but they struggled mightily and even benched their starting quarterback. Can they bounce back tonight? Let's break it down.
ANALYSIS

New Mexico vs. Boise State Odds, Pick, and Prediction: Can Taylen Green, Broncos Bounce Back?

Boise State has been an exceptional program over the last 10+ years and while they aren't necessarily on the cusp of competing for an FBS National Championship like in years past, they are a solid team who should compete for a conference championship.

Last season, Hank Bachmeier played extremely well for the Broncos as he threw for over 3,000 yards and 20 total touchdowns. Bachmeier got off to an inauspicious start to his 2022 season as he was benched after only a few drives after failing to move the ball and throwing 2 interceptions. It could be a QB-by-committee situation tonight between Bachmeier and Taylen Green, but I do anticipate Bachmeier to see action tonight and play much better against a much worse team.

New Mexico vs. Boise State Prediction

New Mexico is a bottom feeder of the Mountain West conference. They were one of the worst teams in the FBS last season as their only wins came against FCS Houston Baptist, a bad New Mexico State team, and a Wyoming squad that struggled as well.

New Mexico got off to a solid start to their season with a 41-0 win over Maine and I think that performance is giving us a discount on the line of tonight's game. Boise State absolutely dominated New Mexico last season and a lot of the key players from that team return this season as well.

New Mexico is a team with a very anemic and below-average offense, and I am hard-pressed to see how they will consistently move the ball against Boise State. On the flip side, Boise State got shutout in the 1H of their game against Oregon State then made some solid strides in the second half as they actually cut the deficit to 10 points late in the 4th before losing.

I believe Boise State will continue to build off of those strides in this game against a much worse team. New Mexico simply does not have the athletes on either side of the ball to compete in this game and I believe the final score will reflect that. With that said, I am rolling with Boise State -16.5 at -112 for 1U as one of my most confident College Football picks of the night.
