Georgia vs. South Carolina prediction and pick for Week 3 of the 2022 college football season. Will the No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs continue rolling on the road against South Carolina? Matt MacKay is here to make his predictions.
ANALYSIS

South Carolina vs. Georgia Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can We Bank on Stetson Bennett and the Bulldogs to Roll?

Georgia had a glorified scrimmage against Sanford in Week 2. The top-ranked Bulldogs rolled to a 33-0 shutout victory in Athens, essentially wrapping up the game by halftime. Quarterback Stetson Bennett is playing lights out, completing over 75 percent of his pass attempts, and could surpass 1,000 passing yards against South Carolina on Saturday.

South Carolina held their own for a bit against Arkansas but ultimately saw the Razorbacks pull away, surrendering 23 points in the fourth quarter. Transfer quarterback Spencer Rattler threw for nearly 400 yards, but had just one touchdown and also committed a turnover via interception. The Gamecocks' offensive line woes were obvious throughout Week 2, giving up six sacks and nine TFLs. South Carolina also lost two fumbles, while Arkansas quarterback K.J. Jefferson had just three incompletions against a good Gamecocks' secondary.

Kirby Smart is now in his seventh season as Georgia's head coach and the defending champions appear to be just as talented after losing numerous players to the top rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft. A 49-3 demolition of Oregon in Week 1 put the college football world on notice. Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Saturday's game between the Georgia Bulldogs vs. South Carolina Gamecocks.

South Carolina vs. Georgia Prediction

Georgia has not had much difficulty when it comes to playing South Carolina under Smart. The Bulldogs have won their previous two matchups against the Gamecocks in convincing fashion, winning 45-16 in 2020 and 40-13 last season. Stetson Bennett has continuity within Smart's offense and is surrounded by talent at every level. Five-star recruits continue to flood the roster since Georgia has proven to be a pipeline program to advance players into successful NFL careers.

Rattler transferred from Oklahoma after Lincoln Riley's departure to USC, joining forces with its second-year head coach, Shane Beamer, down in Colombia, South Carolina. Beamer went 7-6 a year ago but it was the defense that held its own more than the offense. Bringing in a talented arm like Rattler should help get the program to eight or nine wins in 2022 but the lack of talent along the offensive line is a big concern.

South Carolina's defense, which is usually sound and fundamental, has allowed at least 200 rushing yards in both of their games this year. Despite the 1-1 record, Rattler needs to execute better in the red zone to leave the field with touchdowns instead of field goals. The rushing attack for the Gamecocks is putrid. Through two games, no player for South Carolina has surpassed 55 total rushing yards. This spells doom for South Carolina's ability to cover the spread, much less their chances of pulling off an outright upset. I'm taking Georgia and the points. The Bulldogs will cover as 24.5-point favorites.
