UTSA vs. Texas Prediction
Texas played extremely well last week as they likely would have taken down top-ranked Alabama if quarterback Quinn Ewers had not been injured late in the 1st quarter. Hudson Card then stepped in and was able to be effective as he led Texas to a near victory. Card was also dealing with an ankle injury that occurred in the second half and there are questions about his health for this upcoming game against UTSA as well. Ewers is going to miss several weeks and with Card's health in question as well, I believe UTSA is catching Texas at one of the most opportune times possible.
UTSA has played 2 extremely tough games to start the season as they faced 2 solid teams in Houston and Army and went to overtime in both, so I am not worried about UTSA not being ready after playing inferior/cupcake opponents or anything like that. UTSA is also coming off a huge second-half comeback against Army as they were down by 2 touchdowns late in the 3rd quarter before scoring 3 unanswered touchdowns to take the lead and then would eventually seal the game in OT.
UTSA has been a very solid Group of 5 team over the last 2 seasons behind the leadership of veteran quarterback, Frank Harris. Harris led them to a 12-2 record last season and has been playing extremely well to start this year. Throughout the first 2 games, Harris has thrown for 696 yards, completed just under 70% of his passes, thrown for 6 touchdowns, and is UTSA's leading rusher as well, all while only turning the ball over 1 time.
This UTSA team has a lot of confidence and a lot of experience and with Texas' injury concerns. I believe this is the perfect recipe for UTSA to make this a close game. With that being said, I am rolling with UTSA +13 at -110 for 1.5u as one of my most confident College Football Picks of Week 3.
