Syracuse vs. Virginia Prediction

The Virginia Cavaliers and the Syracuse Orange will kick off week four from the JMA Wireless Carrier Dome on Friday night for what should be a good one. An ACC affair between two teams looking to make noise in the conference is always a good time.

Spirits are high right now for Syracuse nation as their team is off to a 3-0 start, and they enter tonight’s game as a ten-point favorite. Their win last week was one of the more exciting games in the last few seasons. They were able to come from behind late and knock off Purdue for a thrilling victory. The ACC is considered to be pretty open this year, with Clemson as the heavy favorite and then a lot of question marks. Syracuse feels as if they can compete and make some noise this season.

Syracuse is led at the QB position by Junior signal-caller Garret Shrader. Shrader has been outstanding for the Orange this year and is a pivotal part of the team's 3-0 start. He will be challenged tonight by a Virginia defense that has been good to start the year.

Virginia comes into this game looking to pull off the big upset. They currently represent a record of 2-1 in the young season. Virginia is led by Senior, Brennan Armstrong. Armstrong is expected to be one of the better Quarterbacks in the conference, but he has been up and down to kick off the season. Virginia is looking for a bounce-back year after going 6-6 a season ago. 

I will be backing the team total under of the Orange at 31.5. This total is a tick too high for me, and let me get into why. Yes, Syracuse has gone over this total two out of their three games, but Virginia has not allowed a team over this number so far this season. In the last game Syracuse played, they went crazy in the fourth quarter, but the total should have stayed under. I believe this is an above-average defense for Virginia and that they can hold down the Orange tonight. Lastly, Syracuse loves to run the football, which favors the team total under. I expect them to play in a positive game script, meaning they should run often, and a ticking clock will come into play. Let’s stay hot and cash in!
