BYU vs. UTAH STATE Prediction

The Cougars come into this game representing a record of 3-1 and ranked 19th in the nation. The Cougars have a great home win over the Baylor Bears, and their one loss on the season is considered a good loss when they got blown out by the Oregon Ducks. BYU has been a power program over the last decade, but they have not earned much respect nationally due to their strength of schedule and the conference that they play in. BYU heard the criticism, and they made a move to join the Big 12.

As we all know, the Big 12 is one of the most storied conferences in football. BYU felt like they earned their stripes when they took care of Baylor, who is a part of the Big 12 and has been one of the best teams in the Big 12 over the last few seasons. It will be fun to watch BYU compete in the conference next season.

Utah State comes into play with a record of 1-3. Their early season struggles have forced them to enter this game as a twenty-five-point road underdog. They have lost three straight games after beating UConn in week one. They are led by gunslinger Logan Bonner who has really struggled this season. Bonner has thrown eight interceptions already through just four games. He is a guy that the team was high on coming into the year, but he has disappointed so far. The Aggies will look to pull off the massive upset on Thursday night.

I am staying off a side here, but I will be playing the team total under of BYU. This number is a tick too high in my eyes, and I trust that the Aggies' defense can be good enough to keep them under. BYU has been very good on offense this year but they have gone over this number just once.

If we can get two or three stops in the game, this should hit. We are not asking a whole lot out of Utah State. We could see around twenty-eight in the first half, and then for things to slow down in the second half due to the game script. BYU should be playing with a lead for the majority of the game, and they likely will look to burn the clock and run in the second half. Let’s stay hot on the gridiron!
