Duke vs. Virginia Prediction

Duke has been one of the surprises this season. Under new coach Mike Elko, Duke has really performed well. Duke comes into this matchup off a hard road loss to Kansas, who is also having a great season. Duke has really dominated teams at home this season outscoring them 79-20. This Duke team has been very well balanced on the offensive side of the ball too. Their quarterback, Riley Leonard, is ranked 35th in NCAA in passing yards which is impressive for a Duke quarterback.

This Virginia team lost a heartbreaker to Syracuse last week. In reality, this Virginia team has really underperformed for new head coach Tony Elliot. This Virginia team had some high expectations coming into this season with quarterback Brennan Armstrong. Last season he had incredible numbers and was ranked towards the top in college football. This season has been another story. Armstrong has only thrown for 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

One thing I really like about this Duke team is they play well under adversity. They play the bend don't break kind of defense. They have been solid all season doing that. They had plenty of chances to win last week in Kansas but just fell short. This is a big game for the Duke program. The first ACC game under new coach Mike Elko and it's their homecoming game. I really expect this Duke team to come fired up more than ever.

This Virginia team was hit by the injury bug last week at Syracuse. They lost a total of four starters in last week's game. I expect Riley Leonard to torch this Virginia defense who allowed 277 yards passing to Syracuse last week. Syracuse isn't even a passing team and Shrader had one of the best games of his career versus this Virginia secondary.

Duke has won me some money this season. I expect them to win me more money in this game also. Everything points to them. They are playing better football right now and are a way more consistent offense. Coach Mike Elko has Duke playing some of the best football we've seen in the last 5 years. This team isn't the same Duke team of the past and they have some real talent on both sides of the ball. I expect them to show everyone what they're made of. I've been fading this Virginia team a lot this season. This team just isn't that good. Their quarterback play has been very shaky also. I expect Armstrong to make some mistakes and Duke to capitalize on them. Duke has forced 7 turnovers this season in 4 games. They have been good at making teams pay for it too. We are rocking Duke moneyline in this game.
