The Tulane Green Wave vs. the Houston Cougars will battle things out on Friday night as these teams kick off week five of their seasons. Tulane comes into this game with a better record as they sit 3-1 overall. They are coming off of their first loss of the season to Southern Miss. They have a top twenty-five win on their resume when they beat the Kanas State Wildcats in week three. Spirits are high right now for the team despite that bad loss to Southern Miss. The backbone of the team so far has been their defense, which has allowed seventeen points or under in three of their four games. The Green wave will look to continue their strong start tonight with a big win over the Cougars.

Houston vs. Tulane Prediction

Houston comes into this one with a 2-2 record on the young season. Houston was ranked not too long ago, but an overtime loss to Texas Tech knocked them out of the top twenty-five. Houston had a chance to win the game in overtime, but they allowed the Red Raiders to convert a fourth and fifteen plus. Their other loss came to the red-hot Kansas Jayhawks, who went into Houston and dominated the scene half of the game. The Cougars most recently bounced back with a win over Rice, and they will look to build off of that win tonight. 

I am backing Houston here on the short money line. I do think that this will be a competitive game as Tulane has been impressive on the defensive side of the ball, but I still think Houston is the better overall team here, and we get them at home. Houston could very well be 3-1 as they outplayed Texas Tech. They just choked the game away. I think the win over Kansas State is being a bit overvalued here by the books for Tulane. This is still an extremely talented Cougars team who was ranked coming into the season for a reason. I expect them to get it gone in front of their home crowd tonight.
