Multiple variables were reasons to blame. They could not stop Jayden Daniels and completely got away from their game offensively. The offensive line was getting mauled and did not help Jaxson Dart whatsoever and despite still being in the game late in the third quarter, they were not the better team last weekend. Down 24-20 and in the red zone late In the third quarter Dart threw an Interception that gave away all momentum and from there they were chasing a red-hot team.
The SEC is a gauntlet, I spoke all about it in my article last week so I will not dive in too much here today but it is true. Talent is strong on almost every roster and on any given week a team can give another a run for its money or hand out a loss in a bad spot. Road games matter more too, Death Valley was brutal but College Station will be similar tonight.
The difference between last week and this however is drastic. LSU and Texas A&M are trending in opposite directions. The Tigers were electric at home under first-year head coach Brian Kelly wanting to get their hands back on the trophy in the Magnolia Bowl as well as revenge for last season's loss.
A&M is seeking revenge for a loss last season as well and has a huge advantage which is home field tonight at College Station however the team itself is in shambles. They are 1-3 in the SEC this year and have lost three straight games. They have a losing 3-4 record this year when you add in the major upset loss handed to them at home in week two from App State.
Last week three players were suspended for the remainder of the season after a locker room incident and you just have to believe morale is low there. The Aggies have ranked sixth ahead of the season and now sport a losing record and no hopes of a real bowl game. The Rebels on the other hand are playing more relieved than last week having now lost a game and gotten that undefeated pressure off their backs.
Now it is time to see what you are made of. Ole Miss has a brutal back end of the season with games away at A&M and Arkansas, hosting Alabama in between the two. You have to prove you can win a big game on the road and set yourself back in the driver's seat ahead of a bye week and Alabama. I think Kiffin went crazy at practice this week and expect him to coach really well tonight. The Rebels' offense is still lethal and as long as they don't step away from the running game like last week they should take care of business tonight.
