Notre Dame vs. Clemson prediction and pick. This week, unbeaten Clemson takes on rival Notre Dame in what has turned into a game with massive CFP implications. Can the Irish make it a game against Clemson?
ANALYSIS

Notre Dame vs. Clemson Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Notre Dame Earn Back-to-Back Ranked ACC Wins?

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are practically in a rebuilding year. It's Marcus Freeman's first season as head coach for the Fighting Irish. Therefore, they have some growing pains. The Fighting Irish are still 5-3 on the year but have ugly losses to Stanford and Marshall. Meanwhile, they've got solid wins over UNC, Syracuse, and BYU (when the Cougars were ranked). Notre Dame has the talent to beat any team in the nation. But they could also randomly struggle and lose games that they're projected to win by three scores. This week, Notre Dame will take on an undefeated Clemson team at home. It'll be Notre Dame's second ACC opponent in as many weeks. The Fighting Irish knocked off Syracuse, 41-24, on the road last week. Can they pull off a massive upset over Clemson this week?

Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Saturday's game between the Clemson Tigers vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Clemson Tigers Prediction

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been laughed at all season. Despite a 5-3 record, the Fighting Irish haven't had the best seasons. In all seriousness, Notre Dame should be 7-1 in the year.

They've got losses to Marshall and Stanford, which should've never happened.

But the Fighting Irish are coming off a massive win over Syracuse on the road, 41-24. The offense has scored 41 or more points in their last two games.

The offense has only averaged 383 yards per game, including 196.4 yards in the air. Drew Pyne became a starter once Tyler Buchner went down with a shoulder injury. He's been above average, holding a QBR of 61.4 with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions on the season.

The Fighting Irish have been the best when they run the football. Audric Estime has eight touchdowns on the season, averaging 5.6 yards per carry on 99 attempts.

The run block has also been sensational for Estime this season.

Defensively, Notre Dame has a bunch of talent. They're not missing many tackles and have looked good against the run, despite allowing nearly 130 yards per game. The pass rush is adequate, and the Fighting Irish also have a solid secondary of athletes.

Meanwhile, there's a quarterback competition brewing in Clemson. DJ Uiagalelei was benched in Clemson's win over Syracuse. He was 13-for-21 agaisnt Syracuse with just 138 yards passing. His QBR fell to 15.6 in that game.

When Cade Klubnik came in, the offense started to find success. Klubnik only had four passing attempts and completed two for 19 yards. But he also ran six times for 15 yards and moved the offense better down the field.

It's unclear which direction Clemson will go on Saturday. Uiagalelei will likely stay the starter. Dabo Swinney called Uiagalelei "our guy" after benching him. But it could be a smoke screen.

If anything, we know that Uiagalelei will have a short leash if he struggles early against Notre Dame.

The Clemson offense will have its struggles against Notre Dame's defense if Uiagalelei stays quarterback. If Notre Dame jumps out to an early lead, will Clemson be able to scramble back in the game in the second half?

I don't think so.

I'm backing Notre Dame with the points at home on Saturday.
