Central Michigan vs. Western Michigan Prediction

Western Michigan has had a tough season as they come into this game with a record of 3-7. Western Michigan has had a lot of injuries this season and has had a lot of inconsistency at the quarterback position. Central Michigan has done a solid job at defending the pass and forcing interceptions, but their defense's weakness has been defending the run.

Lucky for Western Michigan, the strength of their team is the running game with experienced backs Sean Tyler and La’Darrius Jefferson, as they are averaging a combined 106 yards per game on just under 5.0 yards per carry. If Western Michigan can run the ball effectively and not turn it over, they should have ample opportunities to keep this game close or even win outright.

CMU, on the other hand, has a bit of a personnel crisis on its hands. Daniel Richardson has been their starting QB for much of the season, but as CMU was trailing Buffalo 24-7 at the half, the Central Michigan coaching staff decided to make a change and insert Bert Emanuel. Emanuel didn’t do much damage through the air, but he ran for just under 300 yards in the second half against Buffalo as he led them to a 17-point come-from-behind win, so it is safe to say that he made his presence felt.

I would imagine Emanuel would get the start tonight, and if he does, WMU has done a solid job at defending the run. Western Michigan’s defense has thrived, as they only allow 15 points per game across their last three MAC contests. CMU has also really struggled as a 5-10 point favorite this season. They lost straight up to South Alabama at home as -6.5 point favorites, lost to Bowling Green by 16 as -6.5 favorites, and lost to Ball State as nearly 8 point favorites.

I also think this is a good spot to fade CMU after a huge comeback win over Buffalo last week. I am rolling with WESTERN MICHIGAN 1H +6.5 -105 and WESTERN MICHIGAN Full Game +10.5 at -115 for 1U each. I am also rolling with the Full Game UNDER 49.5 at -110 for 1U, as this game should see a lot of running from each side.
