Can the Bulldogs earn a huge upset in one of college football's most anticipated rivalry games this year? Here are Jason Radowitz's picks, predictions, and odds for Thursday's game between the Ole Miss Rebels vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs.
ANALYSIS

Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State Prediction, Pick, Odds: Will Ole Miss Earn Home Win on Thanksgiving Day?

The Ole Miss Rebels started the season on a seven-game win streak. After three losses in their last four games, the Rebels are now 8-3 on the season. In the final regular season game of the year, Ole Miss will invite the Mississippi State Bulldogs to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for a rivalry matchup for the Egg Bowl.

Mississippi State has won two of its last five games, with the two wins coming against Aubrun (in overtime) and East Tennessee State. Nothing impressive there. However, a win against Ole Miss would help the Bulldogs earn a better bowl game in the playoffs.

Ole Miss Rebels vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs Prediction

Although the Ole Miss Rebels started the season 7-0, their strength of schedule wasn't anything until they had to face LSU about a month ago. Once Ole Miss played the better teams, the Rebels struggled.

The offense has still averaged 505.5 yards per game on offense. They've rushed the ball for 278.2 yards behind Quinshon Judkins, who has 1,385 yards on 229 carries with 16 touchdowns. Judkins has averaged six yards per carry and has been one of the best running backs in the country. Jaxson Dart has also done well at quarterback, with 16 touchdowns and 2,363 yards passing. He holds a QBR of 74.4, which is 22nd in the country.

Ole Miss averages 35.3 points per game. But they've scored 27 points or fewer in every loss this season. Ole Miss had understandable losses to LSU and Alabama but shockingly lost to Arkansas, 42-27, last week. Some are starting to question Ole Miss' top-25 ranking throughout the year. The defense for Ole Miss has allowed 383.8 yards per game. They've given up close to 170 yards on the ground. But ultimately, Ole Miss has been good defensively. They'll need to improve their tackling a bit, but the coverage and pass rush in the passing game has been above-average all year.

On the other hand, Mississippi State scored 33.5 points per game this season while averaging nearly 400 yards of offense. The Bulldogs rarely run the football, earning 77.2 yards per game on the ground. It's an air-raid offense, with Will Rogers throwing for nearly 3,500 yards with 32 touchdowns and just five interceptions. The Bulldogs have had to face some formidable defenses over the last month or so. They'd scored just 17 against Kentucky, six against Alabama, and 19 against Georgia. Ole Miss is an excellent defense but, statistically and analytically, doesn't match up to those three defenses.

The Bulldogs have held teams to 351.7 yards per game on defense. Teams have rushed for nearly 150 yards per game but have only earned 202.2 yards passing per game. The secondary of the Bulldogs is elite and should be able to stop Dart from having a field day. However, Ole Miss should be able to dominate on the ground with Judkins. On top of that, the pass rush for the Bulldogs isn't nearly as good as Ole Miss's pass rush.

I'll back the Rebels at -2.5 on Thanksgiving.
