Troy vs. Coastal Carolina Prediction
One of the hottest teams in the entire country in the form of the Troy Trojans looks to propel themselves into sole possession of the most conference titles in Sun Belt history when they take on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Saturday afternoon. Winners of six Sun Belt titles (tied with Arkansas State), the Trojans haven't won the conference since 2017 and will head into Saturday's clash on the back of one of the longest winning streaks in the country. Jon Sumrall's squad is winners of nine-straight contests, defeating the likes of Marshall, Western Kentucky, Southern Mississippi, Texas State, Southern Alabama, Louisiana Lafayette, Army, Louisiana Monroe, and most recently, the aforementioned Arkansas State Red Wolves, this past weekend. If the Trojans can win their first Sun Belt Championship Game in five seasons, it'll be in part due to star tailback, Kimani Vidal, who's fresh off of a 208-yard, four-touchdown performance in Troy's 48-19 victory over Arkansas State, this past Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers head into the Sun Belt Championship Game immediately following their most embarrassing loss of the season. Jamey Chadwell's squad were 25-point favorites over James Madison this past weekend but got walloped 47-7 by the Dukes in an absolute shock of a result. Prior to the James Madison drubbing, Coastal was on quite a hot streak, winners of three-in-a-row, and victors of nine of their past 11 contests. The Chanti's hold wins over the likes of Army, Gardner-Webb, Buffalo, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Louisiana Monroe, Marshall, Appalachian State, and Southern Mississippi prior to the loss against James Madison, this past weekend. Despite the loss to James Madison, Coastal will compete in their second Sun Belt Title Game despite this year being their third year in the conference after entering the FBS (and the Sun Belt) in 2020.
Troy vs. Coastal Carolina Pick
When it comes to who'll win this year's Sun Belt Championship Game, it could be a case of recent form. Perhaps Coastal's throttling by James Madison was actually not as shocking as previously thought as the Chanticleers beat Appalachian State by seven, then Southern Mississippi by just three before the loss against James Madison, which came following an absolute walloping at the hands of Old Dominion by a 49-21 score-line the week before the App. State contest.
Meanwhile, Troy have cruised over the past few weeks as they've covered their last four conference games, which include an 18 and 29-point crushing of Louisiana Monroe and Arkansas State the past two weeks.
- 2-leg parlay: Troy (-9.5) + Over 47.5
