Preview and Picks for Browns at Jets on Monday Night Football

The first MNF of the season was a superb double-header, as the Saints overcame the Texans and the Raiders handled the Broncos. Now we switch back to the usual NFL MNF with just one game as the Browns travel to New York to take on the Jets.

Cleveland Browns @ New York Jets

MetLife Stadium, 8:15pm ET Monday September 14th, 2019

1u – Cleveland Browns -6.5 @ -105

- Sam Darnold, Quincy Enunwa and CJ Mosley out, and Le’Veon Bell could be limited

- The Browns will be desperate to bounce back from an ugly performance last week

This was a fascinating game for me this week as the Cleveland Browns look to try and bounce back from the humiliation at home to Tennessee. However, the Jets were also somewhat humiliated by the Bills in their home stadium last week. The problem is that the Jets do not come into this with good home form. They have lost seven of their last nine at home and are also 2-7 ATS. This line being at 6.5 is higher than I would like, but the Browns were 5-3 ATS on the road last season and 1-0 ATS when favored on the road. Getting to face Trevor Siemien should also help, as he has 24 career interceptions in 24 starts. The Jets might play this tough early, but I expect the talent on the Browns to wear them down, especially with the Jets not having a great defensive line to challenge them

1u – New York Jets Under 19.5 Total Points @ -117

- Browns have one of the best defensive lines in football

- The Jets scored just 9 points offensively last week

Last week was not a pretty start for either team, but defensively both played pretty well for the majority of the time. The Browns loss can largely be chalked up to offensive mistakes putting their defense in a rough spot. The Browns were prone to multiple turnovers per game at times last year, but their offense will struggle to be that bad again. That should limit the opportunities for a Jets offense that was well-handled last week, with Sam Darnold under center. Now with Trevor Siemien running the offense they could find it even harder to move the ball consistently. Monday Night Football has not always been the most entertaining games in the past few seasons and this could be another example of that.
