After a Week 4 TNF bonanza between the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles, the NFL is back with another cracker as the Seattle Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams. With the Rams coming off an upset loss at home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, can the Seahawks add to their misery?

Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks

CenturyLink Field, 8:20pm ET Thursday October 3rd, 2019

1u – Los Angeles Rams +1.5 @ -109

  • Road teams are 3-1 SU and ATS this season on TNF*
  • Per statschecker, the Rams are 7-4 ATS on the road since the start of 2018

Entering Week 4 I had this game pencilled down as the Rams being three-point favorites, but their loss to the Buccaneers has quickly dispelled that one. However, amongst the many negatives for the Ram the fact their offense was able to move the ball at will needs to be seen as a positive. So far in 2019 the Rams have three receivers all around, or over the 300-yard receiving mark. Stopping an offense with that many weapons from scoring regularly is extremely difficult if you do not have an elite defensive line. The Rams lost last week because they shot themselves in the foot with four turnovers. They struggled to move the ball on the ground which will be a concern facing a tough run defense in the form of the Seahawks. However, the Seahawks passing defense has not been good at times this year and the Rams offense should be able to move the ball at will on them.

The Seahawks have been solid to start the season, but their level of competition has not been all that high. The teams they have defeated so far are currently 1-11 on the season. The one team they beat which looks to be a playoff contender, the New Orleans Saints, handled them fairly comfortably in Seattle. Seattle has also struggled defensively with just nine sacks (18th in the league) and two interceptions (20th). For me the Rams should still have been favored in this game, and I expect them to win with relative comfort this week, bouncing back from a tough game in Week 4.

*does not include Opening Night game as this is not a traditional TNF game

1u – Los Angeles Rams Over 23.5 Total Points @ -120

  • The Rams have scored over 24 points in three of their four games this season
  • The Seahawks have allowed an average of 26.5 points at home this season

I pretty much made my case for this selection above. The Rams moved the ball at will against the Buccaneers last week and have done for the majority of the season. Their biggest struggles came when facing the strong defensive line of the Cleveland Browns. The Seahawks do not have that level of strength on the offensive line and I expect the Rams to move the ball at ease. We have also seen the Seahawks stage late rallies in games they have trailed this season, so the Rams will need to keep their foot on the gas to come away as victors in this one. My prediction for the game has the Rams getting to 27 or 28 points, so the over is an easy play in this game for me.
