Here's our expert handicapper Ben Rolfe's betting picks for Thursday Night Football!
ANALYSIS

The NFL‘s Week 9 Thursday Night Football showing gives us an opportunity to see one of the hottest teams in the league right now. The San Francisco 49ers are 7-0 and have been a wrecking ball in many of their games this season. The Arizona Cardinals have been by no means a disappointment, as their offense has begun to get rolling in recent weeks. This should be a fun game in the desert on Thursday.

San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals

State Farm Stadium, 8:20pm ET Thursday October 31st, 2019

1u – San Francisco 49ers -9.5 @ -110

  • Per statschecker, the San Francisco 49ers are 5-2 ATS this season
  • Kyler Murray ranks ninth-worst in the league in Sack%, and the 49ers have one of the best defensive lines in the league

Thursday Night Football games are always a little tough to call but recent form of these two teams suggests this one could get ugly quickly. The 49ers absolutely obliterated the Carolina Panthers last weekend, while the Cardinals just kind of fell apart in the second half against the New Orleans Saints. The Cardinals have really struggled in the red zone, ranking among the worst in the league at converting those opportunities into touchdowns. Ultimately that lack of cutting edge should prove extremely costly against a very talented 49ers team. This line opened at eight, which I liked a lot more, but my power rating has the 49ers as 12-point favorites in this game so 9.5 still works. Even with a slight downgrade on that for home field advantage I am happy with this line as long as it remains under 10.

1u – San Francisco 49ers Over 26.5 Total Points @ -110

  • The 49ers have scored 26 or more points on four occasions this season
  • The Arizona Cardinals have allowed 26 or more points on five occasions this season

The 49ers offense made a real statement in their domination of the Panthers on Sunday. Given that the Panthers have been solid on defense this season that is a bad sign for the Cardinals. The Cardinals rank 29th in points allowed and are bottom-10 in the league in most situations. This has the feeling of a 49ers 30-plus point performance in the comfortable surroundings of State Farm Stadium.
