Here's our expert handicapper Ben Rolfe's betting picks for Monday Night Football!
ANALYSIS

Usually a primetime NFC East matchup is a treat from the NFL to us, but maybe not this time. This matchup sees the 4-3 Dallas Cowboys square off with the 2-6 New York Giants in New York. In their last eight games combined these two team are 1-7, so what can we expect when they go head-to-head on Monday?

Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants

MetLife Stadium, 8:15pm ET Monday October 28th, 2019

1u – Dallas Cowboys -7 @ +100

  • The Dallas Cowboys are coming off their bye week, having beaten the Eagles by 27 points at home last time out
  • Per statschecker, the New York Giants are 1-3 ATS at home this season

The record of the Cowboys is perhaps a little misleading when it comes to this game. The Cowboys are the more talented team by a significant margin. They have already beaten the Giants by 18 points this season in Week 1. Their four wins this season have been by an average of 20 points per game, with their three losses coming on relatively close defeats. The loss to the Jets in this stadium has likely also led to them being undervalued in this one. Using my YPP metric the Cowboys are the better team in this game by 10.5 points. The Giants have not been good on ether side of the ball, but offensively have taken advantage of some suspect defenses the last two weeks. The Cowboys do not have a suspect defense, so it could be hard for Jones to move the ball with any regularity.

1u – Dallas Cowboys Over 27.5 points @ -105

  • The Dallas Cowboys have scored 30 points in four games this season, including once against the Giants already this season
  • The Giants have allowed over 27 points on six occasions this season

This game should be another chance for offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to put a marker down for a future head coaching job. The Giants defense is not good, allowing 27 or more points on seven occasions in 2019. The only time they did not allow that many points was against the stumbling Washington Redskins, as they have struggled against every competent offense they have faced. The Cowboys have piled it on teams this season when they have won games. In all four of their victories they have scored over 30 points and should have a great chance to do that again in this one. Supposedly, Amari Cooper is as healthy as he has been all season and they have Ezekiel Elliott rested coming off the bye. 30 points should be a absolute minimum expectation in this one.
