Packers vs. Vikings Predictions, Picks & Statistics
Given how close the NFC North was predicted to be, it is no surprise that the NFL has scheduled a clash of two rivals from that division to go head-to-head. As it turns out, they could not have picked a better game. This game has ramifications for not only the division, but also for the first-round bye situation in the NFC, and even for the potential of the Packers getting the #1 seed.
Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings
US Bank Stadium, 8:15pm ET Monday December 23rd, 2019
1u – Green Bay Packers +5.5 @ -110
- Per statschecker, the Green Bay Packers are 4-2 ATS on the road
- Per statschecker, the Minnesota Vikings are 3-6 ATS after a win
It is interesting to see Aaron Rodgers over a five-point underdog against Kirk Cousins. Cousins record in prime time is miserable in his career and that is enough to put me on the Packers side here. The Vikings actually have a great record this season ATS at home, 4-2, and as favorites, 7-3. However, it one thing winning as favorites at home against the likes of the Oakland Raiders, but it is a completely different story taking on Rodgers and the Packers. Something that does give me a fraction of pause is the Vikings winning five of the last six matchups between these teams, with only one being by less than five points.
1u – Over 47 Total Points @ -109
- These two teams average a combined 50.6 PPG
- US Bank Stadium has historically been a stadium that suits the under, but this season the total is 3-3
I simply do not rate these two defenses. It really does not get more complex than that. With competent offensive play we have seen both defenses pulled apart and made to look very bad. Now usually divisional unders are the way to go in December, but this game just has a different feel about it with the way they have both played at times recently.
