Philadelphia Eagles vs. Los Angeles Rams Predictions
After unfolding in the 2nd half vs. the Washington Football Team in Week 1, the Eagles look to rebound in their home opener against the LA Rams. The Eagles blew a 17-0 lead & were outscored 20-0 in the 2nd half in their Week 1 27-17 loss to Washington.
The Rams enter the game 1-0 after a 20-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys. A game that saw new starting running back, Malcolm Brown, rush for a career high 79 yards & finish with a career high 110 all-purpose yards & two touchdowns.
If the Eagles have a performance like Week 1, the Rams will roll easy in Philadelphia on Sunday. But, the Eagles will return three starters to a depleted lineup already hurting from injuries.
On offense, starting right tackle Lane Johnson & starting running back Miles Sanders are both expected to play. Lane Johnson has already made it known he will return & Miles Sanders is on track to play after practicing every day this week.
On defense, starting defensive end Derek Barnett will return. Unlike the Washington Football Team, which dominated the line of scrimmage on defense, the Eagles defensive line struggled to gain any pressure. Barnett will help.
One spot to focus in on is the Eagles run game. With the run game only gaining 57 yards in Week 1, Eagles QB Carson Wentz fell to 17-23 when the run game fails to break 130 yards, and 2-15 when the run game fails to break 100 yards. Having starting RB Miles Sanders & right side anchor Lane Johnson back in the lineup should help with that number against a Rams defense that gave up 136 yards to Dallas last week.
If the betting trend from Tuesday tells you anything about this game, bettors have lost hope in the Eagles already. The Eagles opened as -2.5-point favorites & quickly turned into a +1.5 underdog. A role that fits the recent history of the Eagles.
It is hard to pick a winner in this game with so much going. Will Aaron Donald have a field day against Eagles' weak offensive line? Will the Eagles run game show up? Will more injuries plague the Eagles? Will the 10 am PCT start hurt the Rams? Instead, let's focus on props this week
