NFL expert Sam Farley breaks down Sunday's Detroit Lions vs. Jacksonville Jaguars game
ANALYSIS

Detroit Lions vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Predictions

  • The Jaguars are 15-24 when playing as the home team following a loss, since 2013

The Jags come into this game with a 1-4 record, which is disappointing given the team started the season off with a win against the Colts. They've lost two divisonal games since, and crucially two games which they'd hope to be winning, against the Dolphins and the Bengals, two of the league's weaker sides.

There have been upsides though, Gardner Minshew has 10 touchdowns on the season, tied for 7th in the NFL, although a quarterback rating of 64.4 is more indicative of his performances, which has shown glimpses of real talent in addition to some simple mistakes. Laviska Shenault and James Robinson too have been great and both could be a cornerstone of the offense going forward. Shenault in particular has been dynamic and explosive across the field, but his recent usage is showing that the Jaguars are moving him more into a wideout role and not so many gadget plays.

Detroit has one of the league's worst defenses but despite they'll still win this game. They come into this game following a bye. Their backfield is still a mystery, with an RBBC that could feature of any the backs at any moment, but one thing isn't a mystery, Kenny Golladay is continuing to develop into one of the league's finest recievers.

The Jags have given up 30+ points in each of their last four games and despite home field advantage, they'll likely give the Lions plenty of opportunities to match that. Take the hit on the Lions and points and it should pay off.
