- The Green Bay Packers are the only team perfect ATS (4-0) this season
- Per statschecker, road favorites coming off nine or more days rest were 10-4 straight up and 8-6-1 ATS in 2019.
The Packers will enter this game off their scheduled bye in Week 5 with a 4-0 record, while the Buccaneers will come into it off the back of a crushing Thursday Night Football loss. This match will see two of the top units in the NFL collide as the Packers extraordinary offense takes on a strong Buccaneers defense. Meanwhile, the clash on the other side sees two mediocre units battle for supremacy.
The Buccaneer offense has lacked consistency in any element this season. One-minute Brady looks fine and the next his passes are wobbling, and he is underthrowing receivers. The run game has also struggled to operate consistently, failing to get to 100 yards on two occasions, and only managing it one of the other three times because of a late long touchdown for Leonard Fournette. Equally the Packers defense has struggled to shut teams down at times. They allowed over 30 points to the Vikings and Saints but held the Lions and Falcons to a combined 37 points.
This game will likely be decided on the other side of the ball. The Buccaneers run defense has dominated, holding teams to just 2.7 yards per attempt. Their pass defense has been good as well, ranking in the top 10. They also rank in the top 10 in third down and red-zone conversions, as well as points per drive and scoring percentage. However, the Packers offense has been multi-faceted, ranking in the top five in yards per attempt through the air and on the ground. They lead the league in points per drive at 3.67 and scoring percentage at 64.1.
We have seen this Buccaneers defense struggle a couple of times this season, against the Saints and Chargers, and this should be a tough matchup. Look for the Packers to be able to find away to unlock this very talented defense on their way to victory.
The Packers have yet to score under 30 points this season and with Davante Adams expected back I do not see that changing. If Drew Brees and Justin Herbert can put up 30 points on the Buccaneers (albeit aided by defensive touchdowns) then Aaron Rodgers most certainly can.
