Washington Football Team vs. New York Giants Predictions
- The Giants have won their last 3 games against Washington
History sides with the Giants here but I think there's something brewing in Washington. I'm not here to tell you that they're a great side, or even a good one, but I do think that they're better than this New York Giants.
Chase Young's addition was always set to improve this team and it's done that in the 3 games he's played this year. He's had 2.5 sacks, 8 solo tackles and a forced fumble. As he gets fitter and more accustomed to the league this will only improve.
Elsewhere Kendall Fuller is tied for a league-high 3 interceptions, and they've got the 11th best record for giving up receiving yards in the league. They've also only given up 98 first downs, the 8th best in the league, rising to third if you remove the teams who've only played 4 games.
The Giants haven't shown enough in their games so far this year to display any hope that they can get one over on what is an underrated defense.
Only the Jets have scored less points than the Giants, and although Washington aren't far behind, they have far more reasons to be cheerful. Kyle Allen has been medically cleared and is said to return as starter following Alex Smith's remarkable return last Sunday. That is a boost for this offense, who have averaged the last amount of offensive yardage per game, largely down to Dwayne Haskins awful quarterback play.
Terry McLaurin has the ninth most receiving yards in the league but only one touchdown to show for it, which with better QB play, is surely set for positive regression. Antonio Gibson will also be looking to show some sparkle, having been hyped immensely all summer since being selected in the third round of this year's draft. The Giants have given up an average of 144.8 yards and 1.2 TDs to running backs so far this year, something he'll hope to take advantage of.
I expect this game to be closer, and New York might even be win, but the 2.5 points should be enough for Washington to cover in a game which could have playoff implications, given how bad the NFC East is currently.
