Philadelphia Eagles vs. Baltimore Ravens Predictions

The Philadelphia Eagles season hit yet another road block last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. A game that could have been stolen, but a late game debacle on defense was a fitting end to a day lost on turnovers & poor coverage. Coverage that saw rookie 4th round pick, Chase Claypool, score 4 touchdowns.

After getting a reality check in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Ravens enter the week on a two-game winning streak. They relied heavily on their run game in wins against the Washington Football Team and Cincinnati Bengals the last two weeks.

The Eagles, 1-3-1, sit 2nd in the NFC East behind the Dallas Cowboys, who lost starting QB Dak Prescott to a season-ending ankle injury last week. Even though many believe the Eagles are in a must win game, with two division games in the next two weeks, a win against the Ravens on Sunday is not a necessity.

Jim Schwartz’s defense gave up 30+ points for only the 10th time in 75 games as the Eagles defensive coordinator. In the game after, the Eagles are 6-2-1 and have given up an average of 20 points per game in those 9 games. A defense that returns starter LB/S Will Parks, who will make his season debut on Sunday.

The savior from the Eagles win over the 49ers, Travis Fulgham, had a coming out party against the Steelers. Adding 152 yards on 10 receptions and another TD to his impressive first two weeks with the Eagles.

The Ravens, who rely heavily on their run game, will have to find a way to set the run up with the passing game. With the Eagles having man covering corners, Lamar Jackson’s inaccuracy over the past two weeks will not help with an Eagles defense that has only given up 172 yards (57-yard average) to RBs over the past 3 weeks.

While the Ravens are heavy favorites against the Eagles, the matchup is much closer than many think. If the Eagles can stop the Ravens on 1st and 2nd downs to force 3rd & mid/long, the Eagles' defensive line can go to work and force Lamar Jackson into bad throws. But, if the Ravens control the sticks, the Ravens should roll on Sunday.
