Green Bay Packers vs. Houston Texans Predictions
- The Texans have lost their last 14 games as underdogs against NFC opponenents
Sunday night was very disappointing for Aaron Rodgers. He and his Green Bay Packers looked out of sorts and far from the MVP candidate and Super Bowl hopeful we've all been billing them as over the past couple of weeks.
His receivers, the ones not named Davante Adams, were poor and that lack of quality is, as it has been for some years, still a concern. That said, it feels like Sunday was a turning point for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense and they're finally getting the credit for being amongst the league's best. I'm happy to look at this game as being just a blip, against a tough defense and some great blitzing orchestrated by DC Todd Bowles.
The Texans lost in overtime to the Titans and are this season's latest victims at the hands of Derrick Henry who seems to be playing at his best, like an articulated lorry with the brakes cut. Aaron Jones is a very different type of back but I feel he could be key here. The Texans have given up 199 yards on average to running backs each game, the worst in the league. When the markets are available I'd strongly advise betting the over on Aaron Jones scrimmage yards in this game.
Davante Adams could also be in for a good day, with the Texans averaging 1.5 TDs to WRs each game, 29th in the league. 3.5 points looks very generous to me and I'll take that hit and back the Packers against a Texans side who won't be able to replicate what the Bucs did defensively last weekend.
