NFL expert Ben Rolfe provides his picks for the Seahawks @ Cardinals on Sunday
ANALYSIS

The NFC West is one of the most exciting divisions in the NFL, and that is in large part thanks to these two teams. Both the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals offenses can make big plays, while both defenses have had their frailties at times this season.

Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals Predictions

  • The Seattle Seahawks are 4-1 against the spread this season
  • The Seattle Seahawks rank in the top five in points per drive this season

At times this season, the Seattle Seahawks have failed to put teams away in the manner we would like them too. Their leaky defense has been a big part of the problem, leaving Russell Wilson to have to play high-octane offense all of the time. However, the majority of the Seahawks problems have come when they have been playing prime time, as they are 3-0 against the spread with an average margin of victory of 9.33 in those games.

The Cardinals have been largely impressive this season. Their defense ranks second in the league in points against. However, that record is flattered by games against Washington, New York Jets and Dallas, who combined for 35 points. When they have faced semi-competent offenses in Detroit, San Francisco and Carolina, they have allowed over 25 points per game. The Seahawks offense will be the best they have faced this season, and I fully expect Wilson and company to rack up 30 points in order to cover this spread.

NFL Expert Picks

1u – Seattle Seahawks -3.5 @ -105

1u – Over 55.5 total points @ -110

One slight concern when betting the over here should be around the weather and making sure you check it closer to the time. If the game is wet, then look to avoid putting units on the over. However, if it is dry, then the over should be the way to go. I mentioned the failings of the Cardinals defense against competent offenses and the Seahawks average 33.8 points per game offensively. At the same time the Cardinals offense is averaging 27.7 points per game, having topped 30 points on three occasions and never having scored less than 21. With Seattle having allowed over 30 points twice and never allowing less than 23, this game should have plenty of points.

If 55.5 is too high, then look to move this total down to 49.5 and tease it with another play that you like this week.
