- The New Orleans Saints have not played outdoors this season
- The Chicago Bears have yet to allowed 20 points or more at home this season
If you watched Monday Night Football, then you are likely running to the sportsbook to take the Saints giving the four points. In many ways I do not blame you. The Bears looked atrocious against a middle of the road Rams team that is good without being incredible. However, the fact that this game is in Soldier Field is a big big factor.
The Bears have been superb on defense at home this season, allowing an average of just 17 points per game. Sure they have not exactly been on fire offensively, ranking 27th in points and 29th in yards, but if they can hold the Saints under 20, they should be able to get to around 17 against this defense.
The key for the Bears offensively is to attack a weak Saints secondary and take advantage of the numerous mistakes the group makes. The run game will find it hard sledding, but then again it has all season!
On the other side of the ball, Drew Brees in cold weather with winds up to 20 mph is a serious concern. Throw in the chance he is still without Michael Thomas and I am running the other way and taking the Bears. I may even throw a little on the Moneyline at +180 I some places just in case Brees completely falls apart in the open air for the first time this season.
In terms of other plays, it is all about the under, especially the Saints at 23.5. The Saints offense is fine, but it isn’t significantly better than anything the Bears have been shutting down all season. The Bears defense have only allowed over 23.5 twice all season, both of which came in domes. All of their open air games have seen under 20 points scored this season.
