Cowboys vs. Eagles Predictions
The Philadelphia Eagles late 4th quarter comeback came through last week against the NY Giants. After falling 2-yards short against the Ravens & a 3rd down stop away against the Steelers, the Eagles finally finished off a 4th quarter comeback. Scoring two touchdowns in the final 6-minutes of the 4th quarter against the Giants to earn their 2nd win on the season & retake 1st place in the NFC East.
The Dallas Cowboys enter the week coming off one of their worst losses on the season. Scoring just 3-points against the 1-5 Washington Football Team. But, it was yet another injury to a Cowboys starting quarterback that was the headline post-game. Andy Dalton suffered a concussion after a very ugly high hit from Jon Bostic, who was ejected & later fined for the hit.
With a win over the NY Giants last week, the Eagles have now taken control of the NFC East. If the Eagles beat Dallas & the Giants again in two weeks, Week-17 home game against the Washington Football Team could be a win or go home for the lone NFC East playoff spot. Wins in their next two games would put the Eagles at .500 (4-4-1) at the start of their toughest stretch of the season.
After breaking out the deep ball out against the Ravens, the Eagles continued to throw the ball down the field against the Giants. Carson Wentz connected with three different receivers for 30+ yard receptions. None bigger than the 59-yard double move to John Hightower to start the comeback in the 4th quarter. This should continue this week with the return of speedy 1st round pick Jalen Reagor.
The Eagles defense has given up more than 258-yards through the air just once on the season. While holding opposing teams under 173-yards three times this season. On the season, the Eagles defense is allowing an average of 220-yards through the air. Something that will have to continue against a Cowboys team that loves to throw the ball.
The Cowboys, who may be starting rookie 7th round pick Ben Dinucci at QB, will still continue to rely heavily on the passing game. With a depleted offense line & a run game that has only rushed for 100+ yards once in the last five weeks, Dinucci will be thrown right into the fire currently in Dallas. A fire that over the past 5 weeks has saw the Cowboys give up 184 points (36-average) while turning only scoring 116 points (23-average).
With the Eagles getting healthy & the Cowboys injuries plying up, the Eagles should role this week. The return of Jalen Reagor & the possible return of Dallas Goedert will be too much for the Cowboys defense to handle.
