Games between these two teams have often been a little strange. The last four games have seen three lop-sided wins for the Houston Texans, including the game in Houston this season. The Texans have not had it all their own way this season, but their schedule has been extremely tough. Through the first seven weeks they have faced teams with a combined record of 32-18. The worst team they have faced was the Jaguars in Week 5, and they handed them a crushing defeat.
As for the Jaguars, a promising start has turned into a disaster. Since Week 3, they have lose four of their five games by double digits, with the other loss being by eight points to the Cincinnati Bengals. The one advantage they may have is they are starting a QB that the Texans will know very little about. When that happened in Week 2 of the 2019 season, the Jaguars nearly surprised the Texans, losing 13-12 in the final seconds.
The way these two teams have played this season, you may think the over is a lock in this game. However, matchups between these two over the last few years have been extremely strange. All of the last five matchups between the two have seen under 50 points scored, and I struggle to see how Jake Luton can change that in his first start. For this game to go over, the most likely outcome for me would be the Texans getting to an unlikely 40 points.
