Ben Rolfe is back to break down Cincinnati Bengals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday
ANALYSIS

Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers Predictions

1u – Pittsburgh Steelers -7.5 @ -105

  • Per statschecker, the Pittsburgh Steelers are 6-2 ATS this season
  • The Cincinnati Bengals have allowed the joint second-most sacks in the NFL, while the Steelers have managed the most sacks defensively

This is a matchup between teams who are 6-2 ATS this season. The Bengals have found a way numerous times to remain in the game right up until the final moments. However, this is a matchup that really does not suit well for the Bengals. The Bengals offensive line is a complete mess and the Steelers have a dominant defensive line. Joe Burrow is going to be under constant pressure this year, and for once he is facing a defense with the ability to capitalize on any small mistakes he makes.

The Steelers struggled last week against the Cowboys, but to some extent that is understandable. Facing a QB you have never seen before, on a team that has been a train wreck, on the road, while you have just beaten your biggest rivals in a thrilling game was always likely to be a tough game motivationally. However, that will likely not be an issue this week against the new hot shot quarterback of the division in a storied rivalry.

The Steelers offense has not been great but they rank 10th in the league in points per drive, sixth in third-down conversions and ninths in red-zone touchdown percentage. Their overall numbers are not great, but what they do is make the most of crucial moments offensively. Defensively, they rak in the top 10 in almost every category.

Joe Burrow will have his moments but the Bengals rank in the bottom half of the league of almost every statistical category, bar third down conversion (17th), and plays per drive (second). The Bengals will make this interesting for a while, but the Steelers should have enough to win by 10-plus points against a terrible defense and an offense that is undoubtedly plucky but lacks consistency

My expectation is that this game ends up looking a lot like the horror show that was the Bengals 27-3 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens.
