Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings Predictions

  • Carolina have covered the spread in their past 4 road games

Carolina come into this game having won just one of their past five games, with their last game, a 20-0 victory over the Detroit Lions. The Vikings have only won two games in that time frame but enter this game as 4 point favorites.

In those past 5 games they've both played the Falcons, with the Vikings losing by 17 points and the Panthers losing by 8. You can't always compare performances in one-off games but those results give me an indication of where these two teams are. Let's not forget that the Panthers have been dealing with injuries to Christian McCaffrey and Teddy Bridgewater.

Injuries will be key here. Adam Thielen is on the Covid-list meaning that rookie Justin Jefferson will be acting as the team's #1 wideout. Will he find the same success when treated as the main threat by the defense? Likewise, you have to ask if this will allow the Panthers to stack the box and shut down Dalvin Cook. I think it's a negative to both Cook and Jefferson.

The Panthers are expected to have CMC and Teddy Bridgewater back, if those two return then I'm grabbing the Panthers +4 here. Despite PJ Walker's good performance on Sunday they are a better team with Bridgewater under center and I still have doubts about the Vikings defense. They are 25th in passing yardage allowed. They're also poor against the run which will see a huge upgrade if McCaffrey is playing.

Week 12 is finally upon us. As is tradition we have 3 Thanksgiving games, the highlight of which is the third and final game, which sees the Ravens facing the unbeaten Steelers. On Sunday Night Football we see football's oldest rivalry as the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers meet and on Monday we see the Seahawks at the Eagles. The biggest game of the week for neutrals is probably the Chiefs at Buccaneers, which will pit Tom Brady against Patrick Mahomes.
