New York Giants vs. Cincinnati Bengals Predictions

  • Brandon Allen has completed 46.4% of his passes in three career appearances

The total on this game is absurdly low. As of Wednesday, it sits at 43, and I will gladly ride the under when these two teams step on the field come Sunday.

At first glance, I actually thought about betting the other way here. Daniel Jones is competent and the Bengals, while without their QB of the future, have a ton of talent on offense. 43 points seemed doable at first.

But, the Giants have scored more than 23 points twice this year and average just 19.5 points per game in 2020. Without Saquon Barkley, New York has struggled mightily to put much of anything together on offense.

If we take a look at Cincinnati, you see a more competent offense, but with Joe Burrow going down with a catastrophic knee injury I’m not expecting a ton of points.

After Burrow was replaced by Ryan Finley in last week’s loss, Cincinnati is starting QB Brandon Allen against the Giants.

Allen, in three career appearances, has completed just 46.43% of his passes while throwing three touchdowns and two interceptions. His last appearance was a 20-3 loss to Buffalo while starting for the Denver Broncos.

I just don’t see how this game gets to 43. If the Giants repeat last week’s 27-point performance, it would be the 2nd most points they’ve scored all season, and I don’t see how the Bengals come up with two touchdowns.

I wanted to make a pick on the spread as well, but I don’t love the Giants laying six points. This game could be close if the Giants lay an egg, but there’s no way we see a shootout, or anything close, when these two teams meet.
