Bet: New Orleans Saints -3 @ +100
- The Saints are averaging 27.5 points per game since Taysom Hill took over at QB
I absolutely refuse to let Atlanta’s complete thrashing of a good Las Vegas team in Week 12 change my opinion about the Falcons and how I’ll bet this game. The Falcons are a bad football team. They’ve proven that throughout the season and one game isn’t going to change that, so I’m taking the Saints, even with Taysom Hill at QB.
Just two weeks ago, this same Saints team ripped the Falcons apart on their way to a 24-9 win at home. Now, just 14 days later, they’re only favored by three? I’ll take that.
With Taysom Hill under center for the Saints, they’re definitely a different team than when Drew Brees is taking snaps. But they’ve proven in both weeks since his injury that the offense can still function.
They average 27.5 points per game with Hill as a starter, and the defense has played well. You can’t out much into the fact that they held the Broncos to three points, seeing as their starting QB was a practice squad WR, but they picked off Matt Ryan twice the week before and held Todd Gurley to just 26 yards on 8 carries.
New Orleans is 6-5 against the spread this season, but 2-0 since Hill took over.
As for the Falcons, They’re playing better of late, winning three of their last four games, but I refuse to trust them in a big spot. If they win this game, they throw themseleves right back into the playoff discussion, which is why I expect them to disappoint.
The Saints have won 6 of last 7 games in this rivalry, dating back to 2017, and all six wins have come by more than three points.
I understand why some may be hesitant to lay the points on Taysom Hill on the road, but he’s proven he’s good enough to get the job done for New Orleans.
