What does Brian Good think you should do in this NFC North clash? Fade Mitch Trubisky
ANALYSIS

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears Predictions

  • Mitch Trubisky has thrown multiple interceptions in two of his four starts in 2020

All things considered, betting on Mitch Trubisky is one of the worst things you can do with your money, so this is more of a bet against him than a vote of confidence for the Lions. Not far behind on that list is betting on the Lions, but getting points after a long week where their coach was fired, I like them to come out a little sharper than when they got embarrassed on Thanksgiving by the Texans.

I’m keeping things really simple on this one. Mitch Trubisky is bad at quarterback and the Bears can’t score points, so I’m not laying three points with them to beat a talented Detroit offense. Plus, everyone knows you play better the week after your coach and GM get fired. That’s science.

The first time these two teams met this season, the Lions were leading 23-6 going into the fourth quarter. Then, Trubisky went on to have the best quarter of his professional life, throwing three fourth-quarter touchdowns to lead the Bears to a comeback win in Week 1. Not only do I not expect that to happen this week, but I’ll go out on a limb and say that will never happen again.

The only hesitation here is that the Bears’ defense is still an elite unit, but even they have given up at least 20 points in four of their last five games, including 41 to the Packers last week.

More than anything, this comes down to a feel. Conventional wisdom would tell you to stay away from the team that just got embarrassed on national television last week, but that happened to both of them so here we are.

The public betting numbers make me feel even better about this one. 73% of all moneyline wagers for this game have come in on the Bears, so we’re fading the public and more importantly fading the worst quarterback in the NFL. Ride with Stafford and the Matt Patricia-less Lions getting three on Sunday.
